Arrest made in Cary bank robbery

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Police have charged a 23 year old former N.C. State student in Tuesday's hold-up at a Cary bank.

Andrew Bajerski, of Murray Glen Drive in Cary, is charged with felony armed robbery. He faces a penalty of up to 13 years in jail if convicted.

Police said Bajerski came into the Fifth Third Bank at 7210 Tryon Road just after 11 a.m. and suggested he had a weapon. He fled on foot after getting cash.

No one was hurt and there were no customers in the bank at the time.

"We want to express our appreciation to the bank employees and security officers," said Capt. Don Hamilton with Cary's Criminal Investigations Unit. "This case was solved so quickly largely because of the excellent cooperation between the staff and our officers."

Police said they were still seeking witnesses or more information about the robbery. Please call the Town of Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4012 or Cary Crime Stoppers at (919) 226-CRIM(E). Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for information resulting in the arrest or indictment of those responsible for committing certain types of crimes.
