UPPER EAST SIDE (WABC) -- Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch was honored by the current mayor on his 88th birthday.
Mayor Bloomberg hosted Koch's birthday party at Gracie Mansion Wednesday night.
Several of Koch's former staff members attended the event.
Koch shared stories of his administration and the challenges of running the city in the 1970s.
Koch was released from the hospital on Monday after being treated for the pneumonia and the flu.
