Police, family, renew search for hit and run suspect

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (WABC) -- Nearly a year after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in New Jersey; police are looking for new leads in the case.

They set up a checkpoint Friday night to hand out flyers near the North Bergen intersection where Omar Monroig was run over last March.

Eyewitness news was there for the first informational checkpoint, soon after the tragedy.

A sketch of the suspect and surveillance video of the dark Toyota Camry the suspect was driving have not yet led police to a suspect.

Monroig had just left a dinner to celebrate his 42nd birthday when he was killed.

His family is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
