Long Island man beaten in retirement home, later dies

WEST PALM BEACH (WABC) -- A Long Island woman and her father were attacked in his Florida retirement home.

Police say 80-year-old Albert Honigman died after being beaten and robbed on Friday. Deputies say the suspect stole stole jewelery and fled the scene.

Honigman was seen by doctors after the attack in his gated community in West Palm Beach.

Doctors treated Honigman both Friday and Saturday, but his daughter found the retired pharmaceutical salesman dead in his home Sunday.

His daughter returned to Long Island Tuesday to plan for his funeral.

The incident remains under investigation.
