7 Things to Know: The 2013 Oscar nominees

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Here are seven things to know about this year's Oscar nominees.

1. At 85 years old, Emmanuelle Riva is the oldest woman to be nominated for Best Actress. At 9 years old, Quvenzhane Wallis is the youngest.

2. All five Best Supporting Actor nominees (Christoph Waltz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Alan Arkin, Tommy Lee Jones) are previous Oscar winners.

3. Composer John Williams, nominated for the 48th time, has the most nominations of any living person. That's 25 more than the man in second place, Woody Allen (23 nominations). The late Walt Disney had 59.

4. "Amour" is just the fifth movie to be nominated for Best Foreign Film AND Best Picture. The other four are "Z," "The Emigrants," "Life is Beautiful" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

5. Four nominees in the best acting categories are first timers. Bradley Cooper's first nomination is for "Silver Linings Playbook," while Hugh Jackman received recognition for his role in "Les Miserables." Riva and Wallis, nominated for "Amour" and "Beasts of the Southern Wild," respectively, also received their first nominations.

6. "Les Miserables" is the first musical to nominated for Best Picture since "Chicago" won in 2002.

7. Composer Thomas Newman's 11th nomination (for "Skyfall") brings the total number of nominations for the Newmans (Alfred, Lionel, Emil, Thomas, David and Randy) to 87, the most of any family. Roman Coppola, nominated for Best Original Screenplay for "Moonrise Kingdom," is the sixth member of the family to earn a Oscard nod. He joins Carmine Coppola, Francis Ford Coppola, Talia Shire, Nicolas Cage and Sofia Coppola, who have garnered a total of 24.
