D Pet Hotels offers staycation for your dog

CHELSEA (WABC) -- The kids are out of school and parents have days off from work, so the period between Christmas and New Years is one of the most popular time for vacations.

And for families with pets, there is a newly opened hotel in our area that offers some R&R for your dogs that will let you forget those crammed cages at the kennel.

D Pet Hotels is the hot place to bring your dog when you go on vacation or to simply pamper your pet during this season of giving.

"The holidays at D Pet Hotels is crazy," XXX said. "Yes, we see a ton of people buying gifts for their dog or their friend's dog, but we also see a ton of travel. So we have dogs who are coming here anywhere between one night and three weeks, who are coming to board with us and enjoy our space and all that."

Eyewitness News took a look inside D Pet Hotels in Chelsea earlier this year, before it opened. Now, it fully operational and packed for the holidays. The facility offers not only boarding and doggie day care, but also extras for owners.

There's the pet salon, and dogs can tone up at the pet gym and then de-stress on the pet playground. And if that's not enough, you can do all of your holiday shopping for your pets right at D Hotels. They have everything from stuffed animals and chew toys to grooming products.

And no holiday trip would be complete without a picture on Santa's lap.

So what does your dog want? For many pooches, the answer to that question would be another trip to D Pet Hotels.
