Where to find the best buys in June

NEW YORK (WABC) -- School gets out and Father's Day is coming. June holds plenty of great deals, but you have to know where to look for this months' best buys

June's biggest discount is on the skimpiest of clothing - lingerie. Victoria's Secret's big June sale kicks off industry wide sales.

"But Macy's, some intimates, Aerie, those all have big intimates sales as well. So you can get a lot of deals this time of year," Dan DeGranpre of Dealnews.com said.

DeGrandpre also says you can get a summer steal on cruise vacations.

"There is a reason why they're cheap. It's because a hurricane season in the Caribbean," he said.

But if you're planning to fly for your summer vacation, by plane will be pricey.

"Because of high fuel prices, airfares are going to be up by about 20 percent in June and the rest of the summer," DeGrandpre said.

Father's Day in the middle of the month and you're wallet may get drilled if you're looking for discounts on power tools.

"Once you go past Father's Day in July, tool prices start to drop, but tool prices are a little high right now because people know they're good gifts," he said.

Instead, get dad that iPad, but there's a little known tip - buy last year's model - refurbished.

"There are factory refurbished Apple iPad 2s. You can't get them in the store. You have to go on store.apple.com. They've gotten as low as $319," DeGrandpre said.

You might get 10 to 20 percent off grills and patio furniture, but the deepest discounts are a month or 2 away.

"This is a good time to see the beginning sales. it's a bad time to see the best deals," he said.

You just have to weigh whether waiting is worth it. You may save a couple hundred by waiting till the end of the summer, but if you want to be enjoying that outdoor furniture you may want to spring for it now.
