December 28, 2012 (WABC) -- Oh no I didn't. True story- this afternoon I was walking and texting inside the ABC building.... head down.. and opened the door to the restroom. "WRONG BATHROOM," she said, thankfully only putting on lipstick. Then we both laughed. Oy.
+ I know, I know, I shouldn't walk and text. I don't text while driving now I have to extend it to walking.
Now to tonight's 11 p.m. newscast.
And subway safety is once again top of mind, after a man is pushed in front of an oncoming train. It's the second time this month. And if you're like me, you're standing right against the wall these days. Cops are looking for a young Hispanic woman who, they say, just came up behind the man and pushed him into an oncoming 7 train in Queens.
Also at 11, Meteorologist Lee Goldberg is upping his snow totals to 2-4 inches, depending on where you live. He's tracking this weekend's storm, at 11.
We're also keeping tabs on the 'ol fiscal cliff. It's not funny of course raising taxes on millions of Americans who are barely hanging on financially. But today, some Dems on Capitol Hill hauled out a Times Square-like ball prop, with the message of "don't drop the ball" on New Year's Day on the middle class. We'll see. Getting a lot of comments on social media that maybe it's a good thing to fall off the cliff raise taxes on everyone and cut spending and maybe the economy will get going.
With all due respect, I don't think most economists would agree. Creating jobs is the way to get the economy going, not jumping off the fiscal cliff. I'm just sayin'. The key parties are meeting this afternoon at the White House. Reportedly on the table is raising the high-income mark to $400,000, after pressure from Democrats from states where $250,000 is not considered rich. The conundrum for Repubs is that the Tea Party lawmakers couldn't even agree to raise the higher taxes level to $1 million in income. We'll have the latest, at 11.
We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Laura Behnke (in for Rob Powers) with the night's sports. I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11, right after 20/20.
And one note: This column will resume on Wednesday, after the New Year's holiday. Happy New Year!
