The Bergen County sheriff's office says a two-day gun buyback program netted more than 1,300 firearms and 55,000 rounds of ammunition over the weekened.
Police and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office say they recovered 85 weapons during a gun buyback program, including 40 revolvers and an assault rifle.
Brooklyn residents voluntarily surrendered 108 firearms at a Crown Heights church Saturday and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly announced that murders fell below 200 in Brooklyn last year for the first time since 1963.
